Sciacca is a fishing town on Sicily's south-west coast, built in terraces above its working harbour. It's known for its hand-painted ceramics, its thermal springs and its lively carnival, and it still feels like a real Sicilian town rather than a resort. It's also close to our hearts. Sciacca is where our own family is from, so a wedding here feels a little like welcoming you home.
The coast around it is beautiful too, with long sandy beaches, small towns and countryside full of olive groves and vineyards. The Valley of the Temples at Agrigento is within reach for guests who want a day of history.
Why choose Sciacca for your wedding
- Authentic and unhurried. You'll celebrate somewhere that feels genuinely Sicilian, with locals in the piazza and fresh fish from the harbour.
- Beautiful churches. Sciacca's historic centre has lovely churches for a Catholic ceremony.
- Sea views. The town looks out across the Mediterranean, and sunsets over the harbour are spectacular.
- Local knowledge. With our family roots here, we know the town, its people and its suppliers well.

Isabella and Billy married in a Catholic ceremony in Sciacca in October 2026. See their day in their real wedding story, and read how we planned it in Planning a Catholic Wedding in Sicily: A Real Couple's Story.

Ceremony options on the south coast
Catholic wedding
A church wedding in Sicily needs documents from your home parish and diocese as well as civil paperwork. We walk you through each step and liaise with the parish in Sicily. See our legal documents guide.
Civil wedding
A legally binding ceremony held by the local town hall. We organise the booking, translator and documents with you.
Symbolic ceremony
Say your vows on a terrace overlooking the sea or in a countryside garden, then make it legal at home. Sabina, who lives in this part of Sicily, can lead your ceremony. Find out more about our celebrant service.

Getting there
Sciacca sits between the airports of Palermo and Trapani, with a drive of roughly an hour and a half to two hours. We help you and your guests plan transfers and accommodation. Read our guest accommodation and travel guide.

Frequently asked questions
Can we have a Catholic wedding in Sciacca?
Yes. Isabella and Billy did exactly that in 2026. You'll need documents from your home parish, and we help you with every step.
Is Sciacca a good place for guests to stay?
Yes. It's a working town with hotels, guest houses and holiday homes, and there are spa and beach options nearby.
What's the best time of year for a Sciacca wedding?
May, June, September and October are lovely: warm, but not as hot as high summer. See our guide to the best time to get married in Sicily.
Do you plan weddings elsewhere on the south coast?
Yes. We plan weddings across Sicily, including the south coast around Agrigento.
Why is Sciacca special to you?
It's where our family is from, so we know it as locals, not just as planners.
