Sicily Wedding Venues We Love

A Country Estate Wedding Venue near Siracusa

Borgo del Carato is the kind of place that turns a wedding day into a wedding weekend. It is a historic Sicilian borgo, a little estate hamlet of honey-coloured stone, set in a large private park in the countryside near Palazzolo Acreide, inland from Siracusa.

The estate’s old storehouses, farmworkers’ quarters and the Baron’s lodgings have been turned into guest rooms, so your favourite people can stay right where you celebrate. Add a pool, gardens shaded by old trees and open lawns looking out over the countryside, and you have one of our favourite wedding venues near Siracusa.

Where Is Borgo del Carato?

A Wedding Venue near Palazzolo Acreide

Borgo del Carato sits in the countryside of south-east Sicily, on the S.S. 124 near Palazzolo Acreide in the province of Siracusa. Palazzolo Acreide is one of the UNESCO-listed Baroque towns of the Val di Noto, with golden churches and the remains of the ancient Greek city of Akrai on its doorstep.

Most guests fly into Catania airport, about 64 km away. Between the celebrations they can explore Siracusa and the island of Ortigia, the Baroque streets of Noto and the quiet hill towns of the Hyblaean countryside.

A Real Wedding We Planned Here

Two Days, One Estate: Lidia & Rian

We know Borgo del Carato well. Lidia and Rian were married here on 29 May 2025, and it is a real wedding we planned here. They had the whole estate exclusively for two days, which meant their guests could properly settle in and nothing ever felt rushed.

It started with a relaxed pizza party the evening before. The next day they said their vows in a civil ceremony beneath the trees, with an aisle of white flowers, then sat down with everyone at one long imperial table on the lawn. A live millefoglie-style wedding cake was made in front of the guests, and a pool party the following day rounded off the weekend beautifully.

An Exclusive-Use Wedding Venue

The Whole Borgo, Just for You

Borgo del Carato is booked for exclusive use, whatever the size of your wedding, so the estate, the gardens and the pool are yours alone. It suits celebrations of up to around 130 guests particularly well; tell us your numbers and we will check the details with the venue for your plans.

Like Lidia and Rian, many couples make the most of it with a two-day celebration: a welcome party, the wedding itself and a pool day to finish.

Stay on the Estate

Everyone Under One Roof

This is one of the big joys of Borgo del Carato. There are around 26 rooms for about 60 guests, created from the estate’s old storehouses, farmworkers’ quarters and the Baron’s lodgings, so your closest family and friends can wake up where you celebrated.

There is a wellness area for the morning after, and the venue can arrange experiences such as wine and olive oil tastings, cooking classes and yoga. For larger weddings we will help the rest of your guests find lovely places to stay nearby.

Ceremonies

Saying “I Do”

Borgo del Carato can host legally binding civil ceremonies right on the estate, so there is no separate trip to the town hall. The gardens are made for it, with the trees overhead and your guests gathered close, just as they were for Lidia and Rian.

We handle the legal paperwork with you and the local authorities, step by step, so your marriage is fully legal. Our legal documents guide and our post on civil vs religious weddings in Sicily are a good place to start.

Food & Wine

A Long Table Under the Sky

The estate has its own restaurant, the Locanda del Borgo, with meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes. For a wedding weekend you can mix things up: pizza by the oven for the welcome party, a Sicilian feast at one long imperial table, and perhaps a live wedding cake made in front of your guests, as Lidia and Rian did. We will help you plan every course and the wine to go with it.

Why We Love It

A Wedding Weekend, Perfected

Truly Exclusive

The whole estate is yours, so your wedding never shares the spotlight with anyone else.

Guests Stay On Site

Around 26 rooms for about 60 guests mean no taxis and no early nights for your nearest and dearest.

Made for Two-Day Celebrations

A pizza party, a ceremony in the gardens, dinner under the sky and a pool party, all in one place.

Baroque Sicily on the Doorstep

Palazzolo Acreide, Noto and Siracusa make it easy for guests to turn your wedding into a holiday.
