Sicily Wedding Venues We Love
A Farmhouse Wedding Venue Behind a Stone Wall
Some venues impress you the moment you arrive. Others quietly win your heart. La Chiusa Country House does both. Tucked behind a high dry-stone wall in the countryside of south-east Sicily, this beautifully restored farmhouse feels a world away from everything: honey-coloured stone, the scent of the olive trees and a sky that seems to go on forever.
If you are dreaming of a relaxed, romantic countryside wedding, with long tables under the trees and the whole estate to yourselves, it is one of the loveliest wedding venues in Sicily we know, and our favourite countryside venue near Noto.
Where Is La Chiusa?
A Wedding Venue in the Heart of the Val di Noto
La Chiusa sits in peaceful open countryside just outside Rosolini, in the province of Syracuse, between the Baroque towns of Noto and Modica. Noto is about 20 minutes away, Modica about 15, Ragusa around half an hour and Syracuse about 40 minutes, which makes it a wonderful base for a whole wedding weekend.
Your guests can fly into Comiso airport, about an hour’s drive away, or Catania, roughly an hour and a quarter. Between the celebrations they can explore the UNESCO-listed Baroque towns of Noto, Modica, Ragusa Ibla and Scicli, with their golden stone, grand cathedrals and some of the best chocolate, granita and cannoli in Sicily.
The Story
A Sicilian Masseria, Built in 1873 and Restored with Love
La Chiusa began life in 1873 as a Sicilian stone farmhouse, a masseria, and it has been carefully restored by the family who still run it today. Its name comes from the high dry-stone wall, the chiusa, that once kept the herds out and still wraps around the estate like an embrace.
Inside the walls, original stone paving, arches and courtyards sit alongside clean, modern touches. Beyond them there is nothing but carob, olive and pomegranate trees, and not another building in sight. It is private, peaceful and utterly Sicilian.

Every part of the day has its own outdoor setting, all within the estate walls, from a rustic baglio courtyard to an olive grove.
The Entrance Court
A first glimpse of the farmhouse and the perfect spot to greet your guests with a chilled glass as they arrive.
The Baglio
The main courtyard, framed by warm stone and bougainvillea, made for long candlelit dinners under the stars.
The Theatre Terrace
An open-air terrace with a real sense of occasion, lovely for your ceremony, aperitivo or the first dance.
The Garden & Olive Grove
Long tables beneath the olive trees with lights strung overhead: countryside romance at its very best.
The Old Stables
The Scuderie, with their stone vaults, bring all that atmosphere indoors for dining, dancing or a late-night bar.
The Pool & Solarium
A long, sleek pool for welcome drinks the evening before, or a lazy pool party the day after.

An Exclusive-Use Wedding Venue
The Whole Estate, Just for You
La Chiusa is booked for exclusive use, so the farmhouse, courtyards and gardens are yours for the celebration. Outdoor weddings can welcome up to around 250 guests, though for us the sweet spot is around 150: big enough for a proper party, intimate enough to feel like family.
And because even Sicily has the odd cloudy day, there are covered spaces too, so there is always a beautiful plan B.
Stay & Unwind
Wake Up Where You Celebrated
There are rooms on site for the two of you and your closest family, so nobody has to rush off at the end of the night. Take a swim in the long pool, unwind in the sauna or book a massage the morning after.
The rest of your guests can stay in the lovely towns and country houses nearby, and we are always happy to help you find the right places.
Ceremonies
Saying “I Do”
Symbolic ceremonies take place right on the estate, in a courtyard, on the terrace or beneath the olive trees, with all of the meaning and none of the formality.
If you would love a religious ceremony, the pretty Sacra Famiglia church is only about 800 metres away, so you can marry in church and be back among the olive trees for aperitivo in minutes. We will talk you through the legal side too; our legal documents guide and our post on civil vs religious weddings in Sicily are a good place to start.
Food & Wine
A Real Sicilian Feast
La Chiusa works with a curated list of trusted local caterers, so you can choose the style of food that feels like you, from a generous Sicilian feast of local produce to an elegant served dinner. We will help you taste, choose and plan every course, and the wine to go with it.

Late spring (May and June) and early autumn (September into early October) are our favourite times for an outdoor wedding in Sicily: warm days, softer evenings and beautiful light. July and August are glorious but hot, so we plan ceremonies for later in the day. Popular dates book up early, so it is worth starting 12 to 18 months ahead.
